The Issue of Authority in the Local Church (Hebrews 10:19, 21, 25; 1 Timothy 3:15; Romans 13:1-3)

A. The power and right to give orders, to make decisions, and to forceful obedience.
II. The Delegation of Authority. (Matthew 10:1)
A. Government
B. Home (Ephesians 5:22, 6:1-2)
C. Job (Ephesians 6:5)
D. Church (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:41-42, 47)
1) Evangelize and make disciples
2) Teach
3) Discipline (Matthew 18:15-19)
4) Pastor (Acts 20:17, 28; 1 Peter 5:1-2; Hebrews 13:7, 17; 1 Thessalonians 5:12)
III. The Dismal of Authority. (Acts 4:17, 5:28-29)
IV. Application
A. No delegated authority has the right to tell you to contradict God’s Word.
B. Delegated authorities have the right to insist on non biblical issues.
C. To resist delegated authority is to resist God.
D. Removing yourself from delegated authority will result in consequences.
E. There may be situations when changing authorities would be a good idea.
F. Chose to subject yourself to your authority.
