All are Sinners (Romans 3:23)

Gospel Presentation Point 2

 II. All Men are Sinners

A. Exposure: Key Verse Romans 3:23

B. Definition:

1. “All have sinned” This includes you and me. If God were standing here, would you say you were as good as Him? No, because we all come short of His glory. Unlike God, we have sinned.

2. “All have sinned

a. Sin is a heart issue. We do bad things because we have a bad heart. Jeremiah 17:9

b. Sin comes from a selfish impulse. We have an irresistible impulse to put ourselves first. Isaiah 53:6

Child – Child fighting for the toy he wants. Why? Because he wants it, he hits another child.

Marriage – The husband wants his way and the wife wants her way. When they both don’t get their way, they fight and maybe divorce.

Nations – One nation wants things one way, and another nation wants it their way. When they both don’t get what they want they can go to war.

God – When it comes to God and our selfish impulse opposes God, there is a major problem. You see God knows what is best for us and tells us what He wants from us. When we go against what He wants (His Laws), we sin. This is why the Bible says that…

c. Sin is the transgression of the law. 1 John 3:4; Exodus 20:1-17 The 10 Commandments

Speed Limit

If you are going 45 MPH in a 25 MPH zone, you violated that law whether or not you do it purposely.

No Trespassing Sign

You have a fence that says, “Do Not Trespass.” I say, I am going to ignore your sign and climb over your fence, because I want to. I would not only go against your rule (law), but I would rebel against you.

D. Application: Have you ever lied? Disobeyed your parents? Lusted? Stolen? If so, at your own admission, you are a lying, rebellious, adulterous, thief.

E. Transition: Since you have sinned, the Bible teaches that there is a terrible consequence for sinning. Do you know what that consequence is?
