The Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23; John 15:5)

 I. LOVE

agape: Love, i.e., affection or benevolence; specially (plural) a love-feast.

 II. JOY

chara: Joy, gladness

A. The joy received from you.

B. The cause or occasion of joy.

a. Of persons who are one’s joy.

 III. PEACE

eirene: Peace (literally or figuratively); by implication, prosperity.

 IV. LONGSUFFERING/PATIENCE

makrothymia: Patience, endurance, constancy, steadfastness, perseverance.

Forbearance, longsuffering, slowness in avenging wrongs.

 V. GENTLENESS

chrestotes: Usefulness, i.e., morally, excellence (in character or demeanor).

 VI. GOODNESS

agathosyne: Uprightness of heart and life, goodness, kindness.

VII. FAITH

pistis: Persuasion, i.e, credence; moral conviction (of religious truth, the truthfulness of God or a religious teacher), especially reliance upon Christ for salvation; abstractly, constancy in such profession; by extension, the system of religious (Gospel) truth itself.

 VIII. MEEKNESS

praotes: Gentleness, by implication, humility

 IX. TEMPERANCE/SELF-CONTROL

enkrateia: Self-control (the virtue of one who masters his desires and passions, especially his sensual appetites).
