The Purpose of Proverbs
1. It will give us an intimate knowledge of how to skillfully make the right choices at the right time. (“To know wisdom”)
– Exodus 28:2-3; 31:1-6
2. It will give us correction so that we can be wise. (“To know…instruction”)
– Proverbs 6:23
3. It will help us discern what is truly insight / It will help us understand the words of wisdom.
4. It will help us to know what is just.
5. It will help the naive gain cleverness.
6. It will help the wise continue to grow.
Our Responsibility – To Listen
– We should be asking God for wisdom. (James 1:5)
– We should be gaining wisdom through the Bible. (2 Peter 3:18; Ephesians 4:22-24; Romans 12:1-2; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
