22 January 2023

Topic: Stewardship, Time

Book: James, Job, Proverbs

The Priority of Our Time (Job 7:1, 6; James 4:14; Proverbs 27:1)

  • Time is not assured.
  • Time must be used properly. (Psalm 90:9-12; Ephesians 5:15-16)
  • One day we will give an account for all our time and effort. (2 Corinthians 5:10)

 I. Consider Your Priorities

Ladder Approach to Priorities

*God

*Family (Ephesians 5:22, 25; 6:1-2, 4; Titus 2:4)

*Church (Hebrews 10:25)

*Job (Ephesians 6:5)

*Ministry

*World/Government (Matthew 28:19-20; 27:57)

   Dangers to the Ladder Approach

1. It is hard to prove biblically.

2. It allows for us to make excuses.

3. It is difficult to maintain.

 II. Consider Your Relationships

     Five Biblical Relationships

*Family

*Employer/Employee

*Governments

* Church (Romans 131-3)

*World

ASK THESE QUESTIONS:

Does God allow us to avoid a proper relationship with our family? NO

Will God hold us accountable for all five of these relationships? YES

Can we find any scripture to support the assertion that one relationship should have a greater priority than others? YES, GOD! (Matthew 6:33)

Principles to Remember

1. Always hold to the eternal to be of greater value that the temporal. (Matthew 6:19-24)

2. Learn to know the differences between the urgent and the essential. (John 17:4; Mark 1:35, 3:21; John 11:1, 3, 6)
