Wisdom and Humility – Part 2: Humility (Proverbs 29:23)
I. The Definition of Humility:
A. Some one who is lowly (Proverbs 29:23; 15:33; 31:20)
B. Someone who is lowly in spirit (Proverbs 29:23; Matthew 5:1-3)
C. Someone who sees themselves as they truly are before God (Romans 12:1-3; John 15:5; 1 Corinthians 15:10)
“In contrast to pride, which elevates a false estimation of oneself above others and God, humility views life accurately. Those who are humble see God as He is, they view other people with the value with which God created them, and they regard themselves in terms of how God has designed them.
From this perspective, they are to submit to God, appreciate others, and value themselves appropriately.”
